Nautical One Piece Swimsuit



MATERIALS
 
Size 10 thread in blue
Size 10 thread in red
Size 10 thread in white
2 sew on snaps
3 tiny buttons
 
GAUGE
 
As you can guess by now, I don't bother too much with gauge. I always use the same size hook and if you find a hook that works with one of my patterns it will work for all my patterns.
 
DIRECTIONS
 
NOTE:  The bottom of the swimsuit will be a little baggy in the back but this will help get the suit on and off the doll more easily.
 
Waistband:
 
Row 1:  With red, ch 11, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.  (10 sts)
 
Rows 2-36:  Ch 1, sc in BACK LOOPS only of each st across, turn.  (10 sts)
 
Edging:
 
Ch 1, sc in end of each row across first long edge of piece (36 sts), ch 1, sc across short edge, ch 1, sc in end of each row across 2nd long edge of piece (36 sts).  Fasten off.
 
Top:
 
Row 1:  Holding RS facing, join white with sc in first st of either long edge of waistband, sc in same st as joining, 2 sc in each st across, turn.  (72 sts)
 
Rows 2-5:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (72 sts)
 
Row 6:  Ch 1, (sc dec over next 2 sts) across, turn.  (36 sts)
 
Row 7:  Ch 1, sc in next 12 sts, ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (first strap), sc in next 12 sts, ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (second strap), sc in last 12 sts.  Fasten off.
 
Tie a length of white thread around center of top, gather and knot off to create the bandeau look.
 
Bottom:
 
Row 1:  On opposite side of red waistband with RS facing, join blue with sc in first st, sc in each st across, turn.  (36 sts)
 
Rows 2-4:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (36 sts)
 
Row 5:  Ch 1, (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) across, turn.  (54 sts)
 
Row 6:  Sl st in first 15 sts, sc in next 24 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, turn.  (24 sts)
 
Rows 7-9:  Ch 1, sc dec over first 2 sts, sc in next 20 (18,16) sts, sc dec over last 2 sts, turn.  (22, 20, 18 sts)
 
Rows 10-12:  Ch 1, (sc dec over next 2 sts) twice, sc in next 10 (6, 2) sts, (sc dec over next 2 sts) twice. turn.  (14, 10, 6 sts)
 
Rows 13-17:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (6 sts)
 
Rows 18-25:  Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18) sts, 2 sc in last 2 sts, turn.  (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 sts)
 
Rows 26-29:  Ch 1, sc in each st across.  Fasten off.  (22 sts)
 
Finishing: 
 
Sew back of bottom to back of waistband easing to fit.
 
Sew 2 snaps to back opening.

Sew 3 buttons spaced down front of suit as shown.

Blue Skirt



MATERIALS

Size 6 (1.8 mm) steel hook
1 sew on snap
6 tiny buttons
 
GAUGE

DIRECTIONS
 

Row 1:  With blue ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 4 chs, hdc in next 5 chs, dc in next 20 sts, turn.  (30 sts)
 
Row 2:  Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in next 19 sts, hdc in next 5 sts, sc in next 5 sts, turn.  (30 sts)
 
Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in next 5 sts, hdc in next 5 sts, dc in next 20 sts, turn.  (30 sts)
 
Rows 4-23:  Repeat rows 2 and 3. 
 
Edging: 
 
 You should end up on the dc side of skirt at the end of row 23.  Ch 1, 2 sc in end of each row across bottom of skirt.  (46 sts)
 
Seam:
 
Holding RS tog, sc first 15 sts of back seam together.
 
Ruffle:
 
Join white with sl st in any st, ch 3 (counts as first tr), 2 tr in same st as joining, 3 tr in each st around, joing to top of beginning ch 3.
 
Finishing:
 
Sew snap to back opening.
 
Sew 6 small buttons as shown in picture.

Nautical Striped Top

I was talking to a co-worker the other day about needing to do a new outfit for my blog and she suggested that I do a sailor type outfit.  I was going to do that but then I decided I really need navy colored thread to make it look authentic, and since I do not have navy thread I decided to do a nautical themed outfit instead.  Even though this outfit turned out cute I think it would have looked better with navy thread also.  These pieces can be made in any color though and without the buttons you can create a whole different look.  Also, I pulled the top in a lot at the waist because I like my snaps to do my shaping for me when I want to keep a design simple.  If you do not pull the top in as much it will look more like a crop top that is not fitted.


MATERIALS

Collar:
 
Row 1:  With blue, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.  (5 sts)
 
Row 2-50:   Working in BACK LOOPS only, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (5 sts)
 
 
Edging: 
 
Ch 1, sc in end of each row across first long edge of piece (50 sts), sc down first short edge of piece, ch 1, sc in end of each row across second long edge of piece (50 sts).  Fasten off.
 
 
Body:
 
Row 1:  Join red with sc in first st of either long edge of collar, sc in next 7 sts, sk next 8 sts (armhole), sc in next 18 sts, skip next 8 sts (armhole), sc in last 8 sts, turn.  (34 sts)
 
Row 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in each st across, changing to white in last st, turn.  Do not fasten off red.  (68 sts)
 
Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (68 sts)
 
Row 4:  Ch 1, [sc in next st, sc dec over next 2 sts] across to last 2 sts, sc dec over last 2 sts, changing to red in last st, turn.  Do not fasten off white.  (45 sts)
 
Rows 5-14:  Keeping to pattern, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.  (45 sts)  Fasten off red and white.
 
Finishing:
 
Sew 2 snaps evenly spaced down back opening.
 
Weave a length of red thread through beg ch from left back to center and weave a second length of red thread through beg ch from right back to center. Pull to gather lightly and tie in a bow.  I found it helpful to tie the ends of thread around a st at the back seam to keep thread from pulling out when gathering.
